Managing business listings

Q. How many products and services can I list?

Each business can add up to 500 individual listings, which can be products and/or services.

Q. How do I decide which categories to list under?

Where possible, try to think the way your customers do – which category would they look for? To get an overview of the clickfind categories, see the browse page, or just select a main category when compiling your listing to see the subcategories.

If you’re not sure of the best category to use, we’ve included a category suggestion tool to help you. When you add your listing, type keywords into the keyword box and you’ll see categories suggested in the box below. You can click on one of those to select it. If you believe there are no categories suitable for your listing, please contact us.

Don’t forget, you don’t have to use the same category for everything – you can list your business under one category but use different categories for individual products and services, where appropriate.

Q. How do I decide whether to list something as a product or a service?

A product is something tangible - usually real objects (TVs, tools, food, etc) although products can include virtual things like software or digital music. Generally, you sell a product to your customers, supply it to them and your customers then own it.

A service is intangible – it is something you provide to customers (accommodation, cleaning, training, etc), but they can’t hold it in their hands or own it. There’s often a time element to services, such as a two-week holiday, a rental agreement, or a plumbing service charged by the hour. For example, a plumber might provide services like tap fitting and tank installation, but also sell products, such as taps and water tanks.

Here are some more examples…

Q. What sort of keywords should I enter?

Keywords have two roles: to help people find your listing, and to help us suggest categories for you to list under. It’s best to enter a range of different words that relate to your product, service or business, to reflect the variety of words people might search for. For example, if you’re listing a home maintenance service, you might use keywords such as home, house, maintenance, handyman, odd jobs, repairs, cleaning, etc. Or if you’re listing a computer business, try words like: computers, printers, software, IT, technical, hardware, PC, Mac, technical, etc. When you’re entering keywords, use a comma to separate them. You can use single words, or phrases such as IT support or dog walking.

Q. Can I add images to my business, product or service listings?

We want to keep the look and feel of the website uniform, and most importantly we want to give every listing a fair chance. Just because someone’s got fancy graphics it doesn’t mean their service is better! So for now, we aren’t allowing images to be added to listings.

Q. Can I get help with writing my listing?

The quality of your listing is very important – not just spelling and grammar, but well written content that is informative and explains the benefits and features of your products and services. We can put you in touch with copywriters and editors who can compile a complete listing for you. They charge a fee depending on time spent, which is agreed between you and them. If you just want a bit of general advice while adding your listing, contact us and we’ll do our best to help you out.

Q. Does clickfind approve all listings before they’re published?

In general we will try to review every listing, to check there’s nothing inappropriate and to look for obvious spelling errors. However, we can’t check the accuracy of product, service or business descriptions, and are not liable for the content contained within listings.

Q. Can I get a personalised clickfind domain name?

Yes, if you have a business listing you can get a unique domain name (eg www.mybusiness.clickfind.com.au) and use that to promote your business. Just log in to your online account and select “my clickfind URL” or send us an email on domain-request@clickfind.com.au and we will get it all set up for you.

Q. How do I analyse the statistics for my business listing?

Log in to your account and go to the statistics page under “My account”. This shows live data for how many times your business, product and service listings have been viewed, shortlisted, or enquired about. You can also see how many people have visited your website via clickfind – click the “full details” link to see a detailed report showing the date and IP address of those site visitors.

Q. Can I have a personal clickfind login as well as a business one?

Yes, as long as you use a separate email address for each.

Q. How will my clickfind listing be promoted?

Ordinary search engines will pick up on the pages, and we will also randomly publish and display your product and service listings to Google Ads, to drive traffic to the site.

Q. What happens to my listing if I don’t renew my subscription?

If you let your subscription expire, your listings will be deactivated. In general, if you renew your subscription within 3 months after expiry, your listings will be reactivated.

Q. Does clickfind have an affiliate or referral programme?

Yes! If you refer someone to us and they sign up for at least one month's business listing within seven days of you referring them, we'll give you two months business subscription for free. Go to the referrals page under “my account” for more details and to enter a referral.

Q. Who can list their products or services on clickfind?

Any business with a valid ABN (Australian Business Number) can add their business listing.
Please note we will only accept listings for products or services that can be legally sold in Australia. See our guidelines for adult material.
If you have any doubt about whether it is appropriate to list your products or services with your business listing, please send us an email or give us a call.
